We call this car"Eleanors Nightmare"
Starting out as a 67 Mustang fastback who had
seen much better times, this car came in on 3
wheels. After a crash that left it badly wounded
with the engine and transmission in boxes and the
left shock tower cut off. She was put on Ebay and
I bought her with the intent of building an
Eleanor. But it would be no ordinary Eleanor.
My Idea from the start was to build an Eleanor like no other.
The people up in Dallas had just started making there version of
the "Movie Car" and got Carrol Shelby to back them up. We
saw how they were putting them together and I decided to do it
different.
We set out to build as real a 67 Shelby as we could, like they did
in 1967 but put some modern modifications. We always wanted
to keep in mind what a Shelby was used for and with that in
mind, here is what we came up with.......
Eleanors Nightmare
After a long journey up to Long Island NY to pick her up and back, I surveyed
the damage and rust from years of abuse. It was the perfect candidate for an
Eleanor clone, after all you would not want to cut and chop a really rare car or one
in good condition. I was not really worried about the body work it would take to
get this car the way I wanted it because I just happen to know the best Mustang
body man around. He is the most knowledgeable person I know as far as 65-70
mustangs. He has a shop in Humble and specializes in Shelby, Boss, Mach's, etc.
Restorations. I knew I had my work cut out to get him to help me because he
builds to factory specs and this was going to be a completely custom job from start
to finish. Well it took 6 months or so, but I finally got him on board.
We had time to do it right and cut no corners. In the end it took over two years
and a lot of patience. I would like to thank all the guys that helped on this
project, it made a big difference.
